The bike arrives | so does a blister (ouch)!

I sent Chrissie Wellington a note that I finally signed up for IMAZ. I bet she receives hundreds of emails from fans like me. In less than 24 hours, I had a personalized reply from her. I wonder where she finds the time…and her reply was encouraging and personal and real, “May it be full of pleasure, some pain and lots of smiles!” I will remember that phrase when I am dying out there on the course. We’ll see…

I called the bike store back this afternoon to scold them about the delay in bike arrival. I threatened to cancel the order if it is not here by next Tuesday. Magically, the parts arrived in a couple of hours and my bike was ready quickly. I picked it up a couple of hours back. It has some stock wheels (Easton) and a stock saddle (Tru), but the Ultegra parts and the frame (Argon 18 Gallium Pro 2012) should make it a fast machine. We’ll see…

I was only able to get an hour in for my bike ride today on my Trek tri bike. It gets dark early these days and I had to turn back by 5:15PM. I felt good on the ride, but a small blister has presented itself on my left butt (I know, TMI). I hope it subsides soon. We’ll see…

Tomorrow is my long-ass 3 hour run. The thought of it is a bit daunting, but I will be able to gorge on some Thanksgiving food afterwards. While running, Chrissie’s phrase will be quite appropriate. I’m sure the first 90 minutes will be lots of smiles and some pleasure (after all, I do love running). The following 90 minutes will be some pain (hopefully not LOTS of pain). We’ll see…
