Running in the rain | Stevie Wonder at the Musical Instrument Museum

Early this morning, I went for a 45-minute run around my house. There was a light drizzle with a cool breeze making it a very pleasant run. I love running in the rain. It was a treat!

In the afternoon, Amiben, Binita and I went to the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) near Lifetime Fitness. If you are ever in Phoenix, make it a must-see. It is absolutely superb. With Amiben’s luck, we got to see Stevie Wonder who happened to be visiting the museum. Of course he was around a significant number of paparazzi and some security!

The MIM is divided into geographical areas (by continent). As you move from country to country within each continent, you can view snippets of performances by a variety of artists while observing displays of musical instruments. It is all very classy. The Indian display had the likes of Zakir Hussain, Bismillah Khan and Ravi Shanker along with a variety of regional performers.

They also have an artist exhibit with tributes to John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Taylor Swift, Sting, etc. Maybe Stevie Wonder was at the MIM to donate some of his own personal memorabilia and instruments. Maybe he will donate the piano on which he composed “I just called to say I love you.”
