Pain in my butt during Diwali

It was time to do my last interval run before IMAZ. Intervals are tough; you have to dig deep to maintain your pace and your heart rate especially when they are long intervals. I ran around DC Ranch for about an hour with 3×7-minute intervals while trying to maintain my heart rate at around 153. It was hot this afternoon and the sun was bright. The first two intervals were relatively easy as I was going downhill, but the last one was particularly hard.

My back pain has migrated to the upper part of my left hip. It is somewhat of a migrating stiffness rather than a pain. I guess you can call it a pain in my butt!

Today is Diwali, the most festive of festivals in India. When I was a kid, we would get together and play with fireworks and celebrate the coming of the new year. My sisters would create lovely floral patterns (known as rangolis) like the one pictured here. Schools would be on holiday and people would greet one-another with good wishes and sweets. There is nothing like a billion people celebrating the same festival at the same time. I miss the social fabric of India.

Happy Diwali everyone!
