Forced motivation

After the long grind yesterday, I had a hard time with motivation to do a tempo run for an hour today. After taking a short nap in the afternoon, I forced myself to run at around 4PM. I was huffing and puffing for the first mile but found my rhythm nicely at mile two and had an uptempo mile 3.

For a tempo run, I am supposed to maintain my heart rate at level 3; but I just couldn’t get my heart rate up in the 150s. It stayed in the upper 140s almost throughout the run, but my speed felt pretty good.

Overall, I was happy with the effort. Tomorrow is the start of another tough week with a 3-hour run on Wednesday and a 5-hour ride on Saturday.
