94 miles on a bike, let the good times roll

My longest ride of the season began at 7AM today. I’ve dreaded this ride for a while and was hoping I wouldn’t have to do it all alone. Fortunately, Katie agreed to join me for the 6-hour torture. We met up at DC Ranch Marketplace and went north on Pima and then west on Jomax to Cave Creek Road. From there, we took a left to do the Sonoran Parkway Loop (flat, fast and fun). We were comfortable at speeds ranging from 14MPH to 20MPH. There was a light breeze mostly against us (blowing from the west).

We went north on Cave Creek Road all the way through Carefree and down on Pima. By this time, the wind had shifted and was blowing from the north-east. It was nice going south on Pima but when we took a left on Dynamite to go up the hill, the wind was against us. It was not easy. Unfortunately, about half-way through the ride, Katie had to split because she was not feeling well, but Shelly joined me to do the Fountain Hills loop.

Naman, Sanjana, Kristi, Binita, Will (L to R)

It took 6 hours, 94 miles, shifting winds and countless hills; and I was dead tired at the end of the ride. My last long ride before Ironman Cabo is now behind me. Amen!

Naman and Sanj are still in town. in the evening, Will and Kristi joined us for wine and appetizers and then dinner at Lamp. Let the good times roll…
