Another painful day

Last night, I woke up at around midnight with excruciating pain in my calf. I was restless and couldn’t sleep. I took Ibuprofen before I could relax. This sucks. I am 9 days away from Ironman Cabo. I have worked hard over the past few months and now I have the prospect of not being able to start (again)! As of this morning, I was less than 50% certain that I will be able to participate.

Trigger Point makes excellent recovery products

I went to my PT (Lisa) of Windhawk clinic this afternoon. Lisa and Tim worked on me for 2 hours. Lisa is confident that I will be almost back to normal by Tuesday. A strict regimen of icing, active stretching, electro-lasering, foam-rolling, resting and repeating over the next three days is her recipe for recovery. Starting tomorrow, I will add 600mg of Ibuprofen every 6 hours to this recipe for the next 2 days to get my blood flowing. We’ll see if all this helps.

As I write this, I am slightly more optimistic than I was last night. My calf hurts less right now than it did last night. Hopefully it is the first sign of recovery. As it stands right now though, there is no way I could run for more than 20 minutes (let alone doing a whole Ironman).
