Everything hurts but I’m happy

By the time Binita and I got back to the hotel last night, it was past midnight. We walked back slowly from the finish line in the darkness. I had finally achieved what I had been striving for almost two years.

This morning, I woke up late and lazed around. Every muscle in my body hurt. I could barely walk or barely think straight. I did pack up my bike and it is now ready for the flight back to Arizona tomorrow. Binita and I went to a nice quiet dinner right next to the finish line in San Jose Del Cabo. It was a lovely evening. We talked about life and love and friends and family.

Family and friends from all over the world congratulated me. Some didn’t even know what an Ironman was!

I am sore everywhere but am happy. It is now time to relax for a few days, reflect on what went right and what went wrong during the race, reflect on the race itself and re-live the euphoric moment when I finished the race.

Next week, I will start training for Ironman 70.3 Hawai’i (Kohala Coast).
