The Original Marathon in Athens, Greece

Now that I am not training for any race in particular, my workouts are relaxed and easy. Technically, I can’t do overly strenuous workouts (as per doctor’s orders) anyway. So I ran today on the treadmill for 25 minutes (less than 3 miles) and then I biked on the stationary bike for another 22 minutes (6.5 miles). Ho hummmmmm…

My body feels great. I have no aches or pains, no shortness of breath, no blisters anywhere; nothing!

I have started looking at doing a few run races this fall. I’m not really sure how my body will respond in the next few weeks, but it doesn’t hurt to take a peek.

What jumps out is the Original Athens Marathon (the same route that started the whole Marathon craze in 490BC). It may not be a bad idea to go to Greece, run the marathon and make a nice vacation out of it. We’ll have to see how the next couple of months go; the Athens Marathon is in early November.
