Absent from Ironman 70.3 Hawaii 2014

At 10:30 this morning, Binita and I were to fly to the Big Island of Hawaii. On Saturday (May 31), I was to do the the Ironman 70.3 in Hawaii. I did go to the airport this morning, but it was only to drop off my mother. She left to go to Kalamazoo. I have about 3 weeks to go before I can fly and about a year to go before I can bike outdoors again.

A couple of years back, I was on the Big Island (with family) the day after Lance Armstrong won the 70.3 race. Soon after, he was banned for life from participating in any sanctioned events. While in Hawaii back in 2012, my interest in Ironman racing was stimulated and has only grown since then. I can’t bike for the next few months (or maybe a year), but as soon as I can, I will sign up for my next Ironman. For now, I am lurking…and will be doing some running races; and I will be cheering my Ironman buddies; I have plenty of those!!

Today, I rested.
