If you have been reading my blogs, you know that I have been on blood thinners (Xarelto) since my medical episode in May. I had Pulmonary Embolism with multiple clots including a saddle clot. Apparently, it was pretty severe. I could barely climb a flight of stairs.
Since I started taking the blood thinning drug, not only have my clots cleared, but my swimming and running are improving every week. With the way I have been able to run lately, I have not only reached my pre-episode form, I seem to have exceed it. Today I ran intervals for 63 minutes for 8.2 miles. I had lots of juice still left in me; I could easily have gone faster. Even when I was training to qualify for the Boston Marathon, my intervals were labored and dreaded. Today’s intervals were joyous!
I wonder if there have been any studies done correlating blood thinners with athletic performance. In my case, it certainly seems to have a direct correlation!
