Shavasana thoughts

Missy and Simi during our trip to Durango, Colorado

The last few minutes of every yoga session are full of relaxation and peace. Shavasana is all about rejuvenation of body, mind and soul. After an intense practice session, during Shavasana your heartrate drops, and bloodpressure drops, your thoughts wander easily and are essentially positive, your daily stresses are reduced and you feel self-confident, focused and energized. Lately, my thoughts during Shavasana are concentrated around Simi.

During today’s session, I thought of all the fond memories with Simi for the last 14 years. I thought of the many trips we took with her (Cleveland, San Diego, Sedona, Durango, Bisbee, etc. etc.), the times she would jump in the pool after me, how she loved to roll in the grass, how she would sit and patiently wait for her treat, how she would sit, stay and then roll over and on and on and on.

It is sad that she is gone, but it feels good to think about her. My heart remains heavy, but not in a bad way. Her fond memories will stay in my heart and mind forever.
