Kai and the Jenga tower

My training picks up tempo starting this week. Runs will get harder and longer over the next few weeks. I ran today for an hour for just over 7.5 miles for a sub-8-minute-per-mile clip. My heartrate was steadily at level 3 from minute 15 to minute 50. It felt good but I was exhausted when I was done.

My stats for the run today look pretty good. As far as I can tell, the only thing I need to work on is my Vertical Oscillation at a lower cadence. I suppose my average stride should be longer and not higher although I am not sure quite how to achieve this. It sounds simple enough in theory, “for each stride, don’t jump up; jump long instead.” It is easier said than done!

We all gathered this evening at Rahul’s place for dinner. I spent time playing Jenga with Kai. He’s growing up fast, but is a very cute kid! He is 5 and I can completely relate to him. Look at him concentrate on which piece to remove from the Jenga tower! Look closely and you will see that the tower is delicately perched.
