14+ miles in new Saucony Kinvara 5 shoes

I bought Saucony Kinvara 5 shoes yesterday and ran in them today. I didn’t find them in the blue that I wanted and ended up buying the black ones. I’m very happy with my purchase!

My calf was in a bit of discomfort when I started running today but by the time I was done, it was not hurting at all. Maybe it just needed some blood to flow!

Hundreds of people run by the canal. I started today on 56th and Indian School for a 2-hour 14+ mile run at around 7:30AM with Katie. We ran the first mile together and then I went solo. I went in the Northeasterly direction towards the SRPMIC Indian Reservation for 6.25 miles before turning around. On my way, I saw dozens of birds. Cormorants were everywhere and I even saw one with a fish in its beak. Mallards, Wigeons, Scaups, Grebes and Coots were happily wading in the canal, some of them occasionally diving for fish and algae. I’ve seen kingfishers on the canal too but I did not see one today.

I stopped at the 1-hour mark and ate a stinger waffle before continuing on. All in all, it was a very comfortable, smooth run. I was feeling a little tired towards the end but running for 2 hours is not exactly trivial.
