The bags are packed and ready to go. I have packed to start the race a bit bundled up and will shed clothes either just before or just after the race start. I’m still not sure if I will wear gloves during the race, but I will definitely pick up some hand warmers in Boston. Everything else is in the bag:
- M-Dot Visor – check
- Glasses – check
- Snapathon t-shirt – check
- Lulu lemon shorts with a side and back pocket – check
- SpiBelt for nutrition – check
- Compression socks – check
- Saucony Kinvara 5 shoes with green insoles – check
- Heart rate monitor – check
- Garmin 920XT – check
- iPod with headphones – check (the plan is to run the first 10 miles with music and then shed it just before Wellesley)
I ran easy on the treadmill today for 40 minutes. Somehow, it felt labored. My allergies are acting up making breathing a bit tough at higher heartrates. My heartrate was also elevated throughout the run because of my allergies. It should all settle down in Boston by Sunday. If not, oh well – it’s not like I’m going to set a PR in Boston! With headwinds and the hills in Newton, my goal is tempered at around 3:45. If I break 3:40, I will be quite happy.
The flight leaves early tomorrow. Boston, here I come…
