Long 12-mile run at Freestone Park in Gilbert

Very early this morning, I met the LLS running team in Gilbert. There were only a half-a-dozen of us who showed up at around 5:30AM. After yapping and stretching, I started running at around 6AM. It was going to be a hot day, hence running early in the morning was a good idea.

After jogging for the first couple of minutes with the LLS group, I ran alone. I ran on the canal starting at Freestone Park in Gilbert. Fortunately, one side of the canal is full of trees and partly shaded. I expected to run 11+ miles with a break at the half-way point. This was virgin running territory for me, and I have to say that the runners in Gilbert are super-friendly. Most were running in groups of twos and threes and just about everyone said hi. #friendlyrunner = #happyrunner.

With the 12-mile run (8:06 average) out of the way early in the morning, I relaxed for the rest of the day. Kristi came over and we went out to dinner at Osha Thai. She wanted to talk South Africa (she and Matt are going there in September).
