I woke up this morning at 3AM with excruciating pain in my neck. Many years ago, I had a root canal on one of my lower left molars. The neck pain was centered around that area. I thought something was wrong with it. I got out of bed, drank water and waited for the pain to subside. I thought about taking pain killers but I’m on a blood thinner called Xarelto; therefore Ibuprofen is out-of-bounds for me.
It took me about 45 minutes to fall back asleep. When I woke up again at around 6AM, the pain had subsided considerably. Weird but good! After showering, the pain was almost gone. More weird and more good! Maybe the hot water helped soothe the muscles. I was able to go about my day with no problem but decided to take it easy and skip today’s training.
By evening though, the pain was pretty much completely gone. I laced up and went to the gym and ran cardio pyramid intervals. I started my warm-up for 10 minutes and then ran intervals before cooling down easy 6-minutes:
- 2 x 30 seconds hard with 30 seconds recovery
- 2 x 1 minute hard with 1 minute recovery
- 2 x 2 minutes hard with 2 minutes recovery
- 1 x 3 minutes hard with 3 minutes recovery
- 2 x 2 minutes hard with 2 minutes recovery
- 2 x 1 minute hard with 1 minute recovery
- 2 x 30 seconds hard with 30 seconds recovery
Mistake! My neck pain is back. I have no idea why running causes this but obviously there is a correlation. Ugh! I will rest tomorrow for sure (famous last words).
Oh, I finally got the Tesla (Chetak) back from the shop today. It is fixed and flows like water. With solar panels and 2 Teslas in the garage, we sure feel environmentally good. #FirstWorldSolutions
