I rested today. I did not sleep well last night. The smoke detector in our bedroom started chirping. It is way up on the ceiling. I’m not sure if my ladder is tall enough to reach it. We don’t have a 9-volt battery to replace it anyway! We have lived in this house for more than ten years now. I’ve had to change out batteries on multiple smoke detectors but this is the first time that this particular one is chirping. Weird!
To avoid the chirping, I ended up sleeping in the guest bedroom. It has a comfortable bed but my neck is still bothering me. I was up almost every hour and in moderate pain all night. When I woke up in the morning, the pain had subsided a bit. Throughout the day, I was uncomfortable but not in agony. I could’ve gone for a short run in the afternoon but decided to play it safe. It remains hot in Phoenix but the forecast over the next few days calls for cooling temperatures. Today was another scorcher in triple-digits. Welcome to October!
In the evening, I changed out the battery in the smoke detector. The ladder was barely tall enough. I hope tomorrow brings neck relief. I am scheduled to race a 10k this Sunday. Today is only Thursday, but I’m not sure if I will be back to normal by Sunday. We’ll see…
