It’s B’s birthday. We don’t have much of a birthday tradition for giving gifts, etc.; we like to make it a low-key affair; we went out to Mexican food nearby with her mother and Missy. I called it rest day. I gave her flowers (white lilies) and sang her Happy Birthday in a goofy tone. This works for us!
With 20 days to go before the New York Marathon, it is officially the first of 3 taper weeks. This means that my runs will be slower and shorter. Saturdays will still be long runs and Tuesday will still be intervals, but they will be shorter and slower. I have done the work; I am as ready as I can be. I am not in as good shape as I was before the Phoenix Marathon but this will have to do. My form is good and my injuries are down. My training has been as good as I can expect!
