The attributes of optimal running performance

A couple of days ago, on a windy Tuesday, I ran around the Parsus office for 5.25 miles. Today I ran the same exact route just a little faster. I was able to maintain my heartrate in the low level 2 zone and yet run a faster clip. Maybe it was the wind or maybe it was me. I haven’t really figured out exactly why running feels so much easier on some days. There are so many variables that affect performance. Sleep, nutrition, temperature, wind, terrain are just some of these attributes. Attitude counts for a lot too! Maybe someday I will figure out the exact formula for optimal performance.

Tomorrow, Julie and Len arrive from Tennessee; and Marty and Brian arrive from Michigan. We plan to travel to Page, AZ and the Antelope Canyons this weekend. Let the party begin!!
