Team For Kids – Tokyo Marathon |
A few weeks ago, I blogged that I was not picked for the Tokyo Marathon 2017 lottery. I had about 1 in 8 chance of getting in and lost out. Well…I signed up anyway! I will run the Tokyo Marathon to support Team for Kids. Here is what Team for Kids is all about:
Team for Kids is a committed group of adult runners from around the world who add meaning to their miles by raising funds for NYRR’s Youth and Community Services programs while training for major endurance events. The funds they raise provide free or low-cost health and fitness programs to kids who would otherwise have little or no access to regular physical activity. These programs serve more than 215,000 children each year in more than 1,000 schools and community centers in New York City and across the nation.
If all goes well, this will be my 5th of 6 Marathon Majors. My goal is to complete all six (including Chicago) in 2017.
26 February, 2017 is when I will run the Tokyo Marathon. Training will officially begin on November 14. I’m not sure if I will follow the same training plan as the Berlin Marathon or create a new one. Stay tuned for my official training plan!
We leave for India in mid-November for my niece Sanjana’w wedding. That’s where/when training will officially commence for the Tokyo Marathon. For the first few days, we will be up north in the foothills of the Himalayas at a spa resort (Ananda Spa). Apparently, it is leopard-country out there, but I’m quite certain that I will sneak in a few quick runs. If you follow me on Strava, you will see my activities in India.
