Last time I blogged was just after the Boston Marathon in April. Since then, a lot has happened. I want to start blogging again regularly in 2020; so here is a quick synopsis of what has transpired since April!
May 2019: I went to Amsterdam with Sheelben-Devan to enjoy the tulip festival and had a great time! After they left, I rented a road-bike and joined Gran Fondo Rosa in Oosterbeek. Here are a few pictures and here is a link to the bike ride (Strava)!

June 2019: I started swimming again because I signed up for the Goa Ironman in October, 2019 (ended up not racing it because of Pulmonary Embolism – read on…)
July 2019: We flew to Portugal with Julie-Len-Renee and Marty-Brian. After spending a couple of days in Porto, we took a train to Vigo (Spain), rented a car and drove around Northern Spain. Here a few a few pictures from there (and links to a few Strava activities).

July 2019: Also in July, Mananbhai and Kruti visited us and we flew to Northern California for a good time!

August 2019: Back home in Scottsdale, after experiencing shortness of breath for a few days, I walked in to the ER only to be diagnosed with Pulmonary Embolism. Unfortunately, I’m back in Xarelto which means my bicycling has to be carefully planned and monitored. Unfortunately, I had to drop out of the Goa Ironman (but I am eyeing it for 2020…we shall see)!
September 2019: We took a quick vacation to Washington wine country (Walla Walla) and Northern Oregon. En route, we went on a gorgeous hike to Mt. Rainier. Here are a few pics and Strava link.

October 2019: We had bought tickets to India for the Goa Ironman 70.3. I had to drop out, but we still went to Delhi, Jaipur, Ranthambhore and Ahmedabad. Tiger and Leopard video follows! Upon returning from India, I signed up for the Revel Kulia marathon on January 19, 2020 on the Big Island of Hawaii. I’m going to try and qualify for Boston 2021.

November 2019: I bought an indoor trainer (Wahoo Kickr Core) and am signed up with Zwift. It’s not as fun as outdoor bicycling, but it will do for now. I can bike again as long as I plan it well. I haven’t been out on the road yet but will try and get out after the Hawaii Marathon.
December 2019: Marathon training has gone quite well but I am nursing a sore right calf right now. Christmas is here; so I just bought a Hyperice Hypervolt on Naman’s recommendation.
2020: So far, we have only one quick trip planned in 2020; Hawaii for the marathon in January. We are planning to fly to Europe in the summer and I’d like to go back to India again in October, 2020 for the Goa Ironman 70.3. We shall see how our plans materialize!
